Hoping to get some recommendations on discs (hoping to use my standard 4-1/2 angle grinder) and/or grinders to get into those pesky corners to grind a fillet weld perfectly smooth. I've been using standard flap discs and end up grinding into the surface. I have purchased a Diablo corner edge flap disc for my grinder. Problem is, they only go to 80 grit and I am looking to polish stainless for up to a mirror finish. I can't seem to find a good online supplier of the appropriate discs (willing to purchase a dedicated fillet grinder if they are worth the investment. Can you please give me recommendations? Thanks

Running at 25,000 RPM, the Mini-Dynafile II utilizes 1/8 to 1/2 wide x 12 long abrasive belts. The tool accepts coated and abrasive impregnated non-woven nylon belts. The multi-positioning grinding head pivots 180°, ideal for grinding into hard to reach areas. The lightweight, composite housing reduces vibration and is thermal insulated to prevent cold air transmission to the operators hands. The air motor is also adjustable to the most comfortable throttle lever position. Eight different contact arms are also available for a wide variety of distinct applications. The tool is excellent for finishing and deburring within narrow openings. It is also ideal for blending stainless steel and grinding right angle welds. The lightweight, compact design of the tool suits a wide range of users. A Mini-Dynafile II Versatility Kit is also offered that includes the tool, contact arms, various abrasive belts, and a threaded collet for easy conversion to a die grinder.Dynabrade has been supplying quality industrial abrasive power tools for use in industries worldwide for more than four decades. I would be tempted to try to jump from the flap disk to a buffing bob and coarse compound. When I'm done with the flap disk I step down to my pneumatic angle grinder with nylon mesh roloc pads. I have never used them but it looks like Mcmaster has some for the 4.5" grinder as well. They also have some sanding disks that go down to 120. Actually I just looked it up and they have one flap disk that goes down to 600. They say it's for non metals but for what you are doing it may be the way to go.Lincoln precision TIG 275Millermatic 140 MIG
Reply:The Pferd discs go down to at least 40 grit, maybe 36. You just have to find a distributor that stocks them.Rex-cut cotton fiber blending discs are another good option. McMaster carries them.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:http://www.csunitec.com/sanding_poli...polymagic.htmlThese wheels will sand down and polish stainless steel so fast you will not believe it. The first wheel sands to a brush finish. The seconded wheel takes it to a polish.

Reply:I don't know if this will help, I do a lot of grinding, mostly aluminum, many fillets. The pre manufactured, shaped, sanding wheels are limited in shape and grit size.If you can make, or find, a small adaptor, these types of sanding disks offer some good options. They can easily be contoured with another grinder. My grinders are variable speed which helps, but may not be necessary.

Reply:For grinding and polishing stainless fillet welds there is nothing better than a Metabo fillet weld grinder and unitized wheels. Fillet grinders are ridiculously overpriced, but it is what it is. Retail is like $8-900 but I think I got mine for $500?? new which is still absurd. The above mentioned CS Unitec brand are just one of many, however I would steer clear of actually wasting you time with them, horrible company to actually do any business with, couldn't even tell me where I could buy their products but they were happy to lie to me and try and sell their overpriced rebadged power tools. Lehigh Valley Abrasives is the cheapest I've ever found and they actually make most of their own products so it's always in stock. Depending on how big you fillets are use either 6"x1/2" wheel, about $25 each or 6"x1/4" $15. http://www.lehighvalleyabrasives.com...h090-bibbuh090RyanMiller Multimatic 200 tig/spool gun/wireless remoteMillermatic 350P, Bernard/XR Python gunsMiller Dynasty 350, Coolmate 3.5 & wireless remoteCK WF1 TIG wire feederMiller Spectrum 375 XtremeOptrel e684Miller Digital EliteMiller Weld-Mask

Reply:Fein and Suhner do fillet weld grinders too, Metabo tout their flathead grinders as the new alternative. Last edited by Tony1979; 10-23-2016 at 11:57 AM.
